Welcome to Harry’s world!

Hello all thank you so much for checking out my very own website. I am so grateful that I have always known what my number 1 passion is in life. That passion is to be able to use any skill or talents I possess in helping others. I have learnt from a young age that the easiest way to bring joy in your own life is to create joy in someone else’s life. I have always desired to share my ideas central to this concept to a greater audience.

Before I was Rookie drafted by Collingwood in 2004 I identified that football would be a fantastic vehicle that would allow me to share my ideas with a greater audience. My ideas are that of hope, love and giving; the things which I believe are vital for the advancement of the human race. I try my hardest to act out of these values in everything I do.

There was a time when I doubted whether or not I should make my own personal website, I thought that people would think I was getting ahead of myself or become self-indulgent (to my knowledge no other player in the AFL has his own personal site like the one I have created). As each day passed my passion for sharing my ideas grew stronger than my fear of criticism, this sparked me to take action.

One question that I still had was, “How do I know people will want to listen to my ideas?” With that question in mind I decided to allow my facebook profile to be public. I then opened a twitter account and decided to share my ideas in hope I would attract like-minded people who appreciate what I have to say. In the space of less than 12 months I now have an ‘audience’ of approximately 8,000 through social media.

The time has come! I now know I have people that are interested in what I have to say, so it is now time to give people more of a glimpse of ‘harrys world’. The website will be about my life. Yes I am a Collingwood Footballer, however that does not define who I am or where I am headed, it is simply one facet of my life. The content will indeed feature insights into football, but it will also feature all other facets of my life from things that inspire me, to things that make me roll over laughing. I enjoy conveying my messages through writing so a lot of ideas and thoughts I have which are spur of the moment will also be a feature.

As I mentioned earlier I no longer fear criticism as I am so comfortable with the fact I am living out my dreams and life’s purpose.

I am so grateful for this opportunity and hope you enjoy a look into Harry’s World.

Live for hope

Harry O

    Hi Harry,

You are an inspirational person as well as an AFL star.

The opinions you have and share are always unplifting and many people would benefit from sharing your thoughts on topics and life itself.

I enjoy reading about your ideas and thoughts, and watching you play as well as following your footy career.

    Cheers Harry!

  • Tracy

Harry, you are an inspiration to everyone out there. I’m glad you went the extra distance to express yourself and your opinions. You will be a spectacular figure, not just in the world of AFL, but in the world.

“I no longer fear criticism as I am so comfortable with the fact I am living out my dreams and life’s purpose.” LOVE LOVE LOVE it… it’s good to see people living out their dreams and happy with their lives… this is how it should be!

    superstar you are harry

  • Greg Hatch

Harry, you are such an inspiration, so great to see a footballer using his public profiler in such a positive way. It is my wish to see a focus on players such as yourself who so regularly give back to the public targeted by the media rather than attempting to ferret out and accentuate the negative!

I look forward to tracking what you do…

    Good on ya Harry

Harry, I’m looking forward to following your website.
You’re a wonderful representative of the Collingwood Footy Club, and an inspired individual with such a strong desire to connect, with Pies fans and with the wider community.
You identify on that much broader scale, and that speaks volumes for the person you are. Be true to yourself and to others, learn from yourself and from others.
    Go Harry O! X lesley

Harry, clear messages of hope, inspired words.
So true, that we can’t do much about the cards that we’re dealt in life, but we can do lots about how we respond.
I work with homeless guys ~ they know all about loneliness, isolation, disconnection ~ but little about love & hope.
I plan to point some of my clients to your website. lesley

    Hi Harry!

I am so happy you have decided to start your own site.. I am a big fan of yours (although I’m a Geelong supporter!). I have liked you ever since I saw an interview last year with Tim Watson. You are very inspiring + intelligent.

    Oh, and you should also check out Kandee Johnson’s blog;

She has a similar attitude to you!
I think you will like her blog.

    Hey Harry,

I am so proud to have a person like yourself at my football club. You typify what’s truly important in life (e.g. family, friends, human rights, equality) and for that you will always be someone I admire.
I work in Human Services and believe me there is a mass shortage of people who share your views, morals and beliefs.

Thank you for being such a great role model to all footy fans.

  • kayla

    awww your sooo cute.
keep up the good work for collingwood too :)

    Congratulations Harry, Looking good!!

  • lesley benham

You are an inspired individual reaching out happily to connect with others.
    This is so beautiful!
Instead of staying in that bubble as many AFL players seem to do, living a life so far from reality, here you are Harry, doing your thing.
I’ve been thinking about your creative streak … we see it on the footy field, we hear it in your speeches and now we see it with this website.
My manager at work says that you’re a hero in his household, and so I’ve pointed him to your website, too.
We can all help spread the good word, this is what a healthy community does, so hats off to you Harry O! X

Harry keep up the great work on and off the footy field.
Even from here in Saudi Arabia where I live you can influence people.
As a passionate Collingwood fan I hope you play well and team has a great year. I am surprised your such a Kanye West fan though. Sure I love his music but he is a bit of a tool. Maybe if you met him you could teach him a thing or two about manners and respect.

  • Susan Roberts

I’m now to the beginning of your new web site. I have to say, it’s wonderful! I’m an ardent (but new) footy fan…this makes my 3rd season. I’m always looking for ways to connect to the teams and it seems that you’re way ahead of the curve! Fabulous! Watched the Round 1 game last night (we get a game a week later) – noticed you. I have to say you’ve definitely flown to the top of my favorite footy player list. I’m a Collingwood supporter. The announcers of the game were very complimentary of you – wondered what you did during the down time. I wondered too. If you don’t mind, share what you did to improve your footy game? I’m just curious.

I won’t go on and on about footy, but here in the States it’s hard to find people who are on the same page as I am and rarely (but sometimes) do I find someone who even knows what footy is (I have run into a cab driver here and there who know).

OK, I’ve gone on enough. I want to congratulate you on a fantastic web site – and so positive!

    Hi Harry,
Really enjoyed my visit into Harry’s World.
I first contacted you about a year ago via facebook and told you about my son Hugh, who is 8 years old and a big fan of yours. Much to my surprise (and pleasure!), you sent him a personal message back, which he was so excited to receive.
I thought you’d like to know he is playing his first game of footy tomorrow for our local Under 9 team, the Glenorchy Magpies, and he is very proud to be wearing a big number 8 on his back!!
Thank you for taking the time to send that simple email…your small gesture meant so much to my little boy.
Keep spreading your positive messages Harry, the World needs to hear them!
