Kobe vs Lebron

This is amazing footage. When I saw this I was so inspired by Kobe. When it’s game time nothing will get in the way of his focus on the process.

He is so determined to win not even one of the most successful comedians of all time Chris Rock could even take his mind off the task ahead.

To me it just shows me how much he is focused on being the best he can for the team. It would have been so easy to turn and share a laugh with him.

I remember watching Lebron James in the play offs last year and in one game he was paying a lot of attention to Jay-z who was court side. He even made an awesome play and went over and did a really cool handshake with Jay.

I have nothing against that, I think it was the coolest thing ever! However seeing the footage of Kobe I can’t help but compare the two and ask the question…

Is something as small as this an indicator of the difference between why Kobe is able to guide his team to the ultimate success and why Lebron has fallen short?

Maybe I am reading to0 much into it?

Either way I am inspired by Kobe. Wow!

Live for hope

Well put Harry O, I toatally agree, but I think some of lebron james’ on court antics (giving handshakes & constant dancing) could be a maturity issue as lebron is almost 10 yrs younger than Kobe. Lebron thinks he’s cool that he knows jay-z don’t get me wrong I would too. You really nailed this comment on the head Harry!!!

Im with you, Kobe is the man! I watched the game and saw the footage you are talking about and just to see his determination and focus is incredible! As far as a comparison goes, LeBron may get the job done day in day out, and individually seems like a stand out player, but when it comes to the big games and crunch moments, Kobe wins hands down! He is the best clutch player going around and thats why he wins the championships, coz he makes the plays and steps up when it counts!

What a determined and inspiring human being!

I thought exactly the same thing when I saw Kobe, his focus is what separates him from LeBron. Pure singlemindedness (if that’s a word) from Kobe whereas LeBron believes that his talent alone will get the team through, which as all people who play sport know, isn’t enough.

I reckon its due to different periods in their respective careers. If people go back to the early 2000′s many people thought Kobe was too arrogant and not about the team. People thought he was selfish and only cared about his performance regardless of winning or losing, he played into the crowd and the media as well to a certain extent.

Now he has matured and knows what is required to be the best.

LeBron is still young he is only 25, and he is an incredibly mature 25 year old at that, but he still loves to chat to the stars like Jay-Z and isn’t as focused as Kobe. When he get a taste of the finals, he will understand what it takes to get to the next stage of his career.

The thing that no one other than LeBron really knows is where he is going to be in a couple of months time when free agency signings happen, will he land in NY or will he go to Chicago? stay in Cleveland? This must be playing on his mind quite a bit. For example people are going crazy about Gary Ablett Jr possibly going to the Gold Coast for a reported $1.5M, that is chump change compared to what LeBron is talking about, he would expect to be making around $20M a season. (then on top the endless amount of endorsements)

My point is give LeBron some time, he has to find his feet, he hasnt had a dominant player like (young) Shaq with him. I love watching Kobe he is the best athlete in the world in my opinion, he is focused, skilled and has a desire to do whatever it takes to get the job done. Hopefully today he can once again prove he is one of the all time great sports people

I’ve seen Kobe get into that zone many times before, especially during playoffs. I know it’s great to be focused on winning, but he does make certain selfish decisions during that time.

LeBron has played some extraordinary games during playoffs so I don’t think we can fault him for not being focused, or not stepping up when the pressure is on. The Cavs have done well to build a team around him, but they aren’t as good as the Lakers.

I think it comes down to their motivation. They are both able to get to the point where they just click and say to themselves, ok let’s go and win this. All of a sudden they get the next 15 points for the team. Perhaps Kobe is internally driven while LeBron is externally driven by the need to be accepted and valued by the crowd.

Ultimately, when Kobe has decided he’s going to turn it on, the Lakers have got the D to hold the opposition scoreless during that time.

Im watching Game 3 It’s just about to start :)

I don’t think you’re reading to much into it. Kobe is the best player in the league, and this isn’t because of his ability to dominate games anymore, cause lebron is more capable of that. I think he is still head and shoulders above lebron because of his Focus, determination, leadership and ability to make his teammates better. Oh and his unbelievable jumpshot.

But I mean Kobe only became like this a few years ago when he decided to stay in L.A i think. Lebron may go down in history as one of the games greats but he may need to play different basketball at times, it helped Kobe Having shaq so early in his career lol.

I’m a huge New Jersey Nets fan and i’m hoping he may come over to our team next year. Then we may actually win games lol.
